Production by chemical syntheses
The traditional chemical production capacities of Heraeus that are currently available, plus those that will be gained as a result of the planned expansion, reflect the requirements for dealing with highly potent, normally cytotoxic compounds:
- Mono-product and multi-purpose installations
- Product batch sizes between 0.1 kg and 50 kgs
- Quantities produced per product between 0.1 kg and 1,000 kgs per year (synthesis dependent)
- Reactor volumes between 100 ltr and 2,000 ltr
- Complete encapsulation for multi-stage syntheses
- Isolators to work in and handle highly active, cytotoxic compounds
- Entirely isolated production lines (up to 70 ltr volume), incl. distillation and filtration units
- Explosion-proofed installations
- Reaction temperatures ranging between –25 and +140 °C
- Condensers within the working range of –25 to +60 °C
- OEL’s up to < 100 ng/m³
- Strict control of emissions, installations and personnel to undercut OEL’s < 0.1 µg/m³ and exclude the possibility of cross-contamination
- Lock system to avoid emissions and cross-contamination for all production facilities
- Production in Class 100,000 rooms is possible
- Handling highly toxic exhaust air as well as toxic fluids and solid residues
- Use of sterile, pyrogene-free highly-purified water (in conformity with EP) in all production stages
- Electronic data recording in Research & Development as well as in production
- Professional handling of precious metal based residues
